WorkFit Update: June 2023

WorkFit Manager Alison and WorkFit Officer Becki had lots of fun attending The Big Logistics Diversity Challenge this month!

It was great to connect with so many organisations from the logistics industry, all demonstrating their passion, support and enthusiasm to improve equality, diversity and inclusion, as well as celebrating the business benefits attained by establishing a diverse workforce. It was also wonderful to see Freya from the GXO Logistics, Inc. team!

Dilesh, who works at the Hilton Revenue Management Centre, met his local MP Dean Russell in the office earlier this month to talk about his job there as an administrator

We were pleased to be invited to participate in Principle Cleaning Service’s ‘Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace’ seminar. WorkFit Officer Lydia gave a presentation about our WorkFit programme and discussed the successful placement of three team members into onsite roles, with plans to develop more opportunities at their client sites. Thank you to Principle Cleaning Services for their continued support.

The latest issue of Careermag for Inclusion features an article about Colleen and her job as a Food and Beverage Assistant at Hilton Leeds City. Colleen says ‘It does feel amazing having a job and getting paid. It makes me feel so excited and happy. The best part of my job is to work as a team with my work buddies.’

Nominations for this year’s National Learning Disability & Autism Awards were revealed earlier this month and there’s great news for WorkFit candidates and employers.

Youssef, who works at Greggs in Cardigan, West Wales, and James who works at Hilton London Heathrow Airport have both made the shortlist for the ‘The People’s Award’, and our partner employers GXO Logistics, ODEON Cinemas Group and The Gym Group have been shortlisted for the ‘Employer of People with a Disability Award’.

The WorkFit Team have also been shortlisted as a finalist for the ‘Making a Difference Award (Team)’ The National Learning Disabilities & Autism Awards celebrate excellence in the support for people with learning disabilities and aim to pay tribute to those individuals or organisations who excel in providing quality care. It is an honour to be recognised. Good luck to everyone nominated!

Good luck to all of our WorkFit candidates who started new roles over the last month!
