WorkFit candidate Victoria, and WorkFit Officer Becki, met with Peter Gibson MP at XPO Logistics in Darlington. Victoria enjoyed showing Peter around her workplace where she is employed as a Customer Service Administrator. Peter Gibson MP said ‘It was great to meet Vicky and see how she has become part of the team. Credit to XPO for the work they are doing in conjunction with Down’s Syndrome Association’s Workfit to help those with Downs syndrome‘.
Tanzie has a Saturday job at her local H&M store. In this article from Special Needs Jungle, Tanzie’s Mum, Sharon, talks about the challenges of finding suitable work experiences placements and opportunities for Tanzie, and how H&M and WorkFit were able to help.
We have some exciting new job opportunities!
- Cleaning Operative in St Paul’s, London. Tasks would include sweeping, window cleaning, wiping down surfaces and vacuum cleaning floors.
- Food & Beverage Assistant at a prestigious Central London hotel. Tasks would include meeting and greeting guests, serving drinks, and clearing tables.
- Logistics & Distribution roles in Stoke and Tamworth (Staffordshire) and in Middlewich (Cheshire). Tasks could include assembling cartons, packing, arranging, and stacking boxes, cleaning work areas and quality assurance.
- A role in an automotive company in Warwickshire. Tasks would include putting stock away, cleaning, and supporting team members.

Congratulations to Josh who is celebrating his 1 year anniversary working at Big Yellow Self Storage in Cardiff! Josh started the role as a General Assistant in July last year, and has become a valued member of the team. He enjoys his job and has learnt lots of new skills. We have placed candidates in a range of exciting opportunities this month, including Kurtis who is a Foyer Host at Odeon Cinema in Chatham. He told us ‘I like helping with the food, drinks, scanning tickets, the people. I love this job in my heart.‘
Oliver who started at Early Excellence in West Yorkshire as a Warehouse Assistant said that he was excited about his first day and he enjoyed working with his buddies.
Daniel, who was happy to join the Bridge Theatre in London as a Theatre Host told us ‘I like my job at the theatre. I like my buddy. I am happy.’
And finally, Happy Birthday to Barney who turned 30 this month! Barney has worked at GXO Logistics in Barnsley as a Distribution Operative for almost five years through our WorkFit programme. His colleagues created a video to celebrate the occasion sending birthday messages, including one from actors from the film Champions! What a great team!
