WorkFit Update: September 2023

Thank you to everyone at the new Specsavers store at Sainsbury’s Castlepoint, Bournemouth, for choosing the Down’s Syndrome Association as their nominated charity. We are looking forward to working with the team to create a job opportunity for one of our WorkFit candidates.

WorkFit Officer Sarah was honoured to cut the ribbon on the new store at the opening event. Sarah said ‘We are delighted to be supporting this new store and working with them to provide local job opportunities and training. The store directors reached out to me after they heard about WorkFit and said they were keen to be involved and offer a job to someone who has Down’s syndrome. We are now working on delivering this in the next couple of months with a view to looking at additional roles at other Specsavers sites in due course. We have worked with other branches in the past and look forward to expanding the partnership.’

Congratulations to Lindsay who is celebrating her 2-year anniversary working at The Botanist in Warrington!

Lindsay started her role as a Prep Chef in September 2021 through our WorkFit programme and is pictured here with the other chefs in her team. You can learn more about Lindsay’s experience in our WorkFit blog: https://loom.ly/Vu-0Ueg

Congratulations also to Sarah who celebrated 2 years working at Kaefer in Jarrow. Sarah is an HR Assistant and said that she loves her job there.

We’re looking forward to sharing more of Daniel’s story. He really enjoys his job and has been made so welcome by the team there.

More to come soon!

We are delighted to welcome back Molly Keal to her role as WorkFit Officer for the North West and West Midlands.
