WorkFit Update, March 2024

WorkFit Manager Alison was pleased to be invited to the UK Hospitality Workforce and Skills event last month. Kay Harriman, HR Director at Hilton Worldwide, and Patricia Mahon, General Manager, Hilton Kensington, joined her on a panel discussion, where she talked about WorkFit and the successful partnership with Hilton. Hilton employs many WorkFit candidates in a variety of roles across their hotels. Hear more from Hilton employees talking about their jobs and how a more inclusive workplace benefits everyone in this video produced by Hilton: Breaking Barriers with Hilton.

The WorkFit Online National Conference in March was a gathering where candidates, employers, families, and supporters converged, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and motivation. This event provided a platform for a wide range of individuals with unique backgrounds and perspectives to come together and share their experiences. A compelling video featuring Joe, Kate, Vinay, and Catherine showed their experiences and achievements. Now available on our YouTube Channel.

On March 21st, World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD), employers and candidates united to celebrate and show support in heartwarming ways, including the iconic “Lots of Socks” campaign. We sincerely thank all the employers and candidates who enthusiastically participated in this special event. From sharing lively pictures of their colourful socks to organising fundraisers, their efforts were truly commendable. These activities raised awareness and demonstrated the spirit of unity and camaraderie. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making WDSD a memorable celebration!

‘It felt like a dream come true, really, and I love being in the fantastic team here.’ Ed celebrates one year with his crew, as a ranger at a reservoir in Staffordshire. Ed is part of a team of five rangers caring for the wildlife haven in the Staffordshire moorlands and was supported in his role through our WorkFit programme.
